pics from the south

This nasty mold boldly greeted us as we entered the house. It was everywhere.

Loads and loads of drywall, lath, and plaster to be taken out, w/ an occasional bath or toilet.

That pile, folks, is the fruit of our labor. That nifty picnic table ramp is the fruit of Chris' labor which made our laborious efforts less laborous.

Us in our non-breatheable Tyvek suits which so nicely stored puddles of sweat in our booties until the end of the day when we could wring our socks out.

Final product: studs.

Here are some houses that were in the section closest to where the levee broke. It really struck home when I saw a doll baby or an afgan or other personal items in the rubble heaps. This is reality for many families! And it's 10 months after the hurricane!

Here are some of the vehicles.

home again, home again, jiggety jog. You've heard home, sweet home, well, folks, let's add to it and say home, refreshing home. Last week was so relaxing and rejuvenating. Two days we had various speakers lead sessions for us on warfare prayer, culture of encouragement, a life of surrender, ministry, and healing prayer. It was so good to be mentally stimulated and challenged spiritually. Amen. Thurs we followed the yellow lined road and ended up...tada...on a some back roads and a dirt road. We didn't think we were in the city anymore. In fact, we were certain. We spent 2 days in the great outdoors camping, hiking, bathing in the stream, playing games, campfiring and such. The first 24 hours was a lovely silent retreat. The next were filled w/ rip-roaring interaction. The weekend has pretty much been free time and sleep which finds us now getting ready for City Challenge again. Bring it, baby!

here's your helpful hint for your day: When there's only 7 people playing mafia, drop the policeman like a hot muffin tin and the game last a wee bit longer.
